Apollo's Breathe

by Frank L. Ulatowski Jr.

Set the stage for a lonely muse
In all her Dionysian glory
Drowning in her solemn comeuppance
Tears shattering on an oaken slab
A single trumpet tone reverberates a heart’s longing
Glistening mildew of pain endearing blackens luminously
Yet a star shines, omnipotent, and eternal
Faithful and undying
It’s light bears down, but to no avail
And is hidden behind a lingering storm of doubt
A cold space of nothing but a dark time
Impenetrable
But a star lingers
Apollo’s breathe
